From the early fliers and posters created by Michael Gonzales to a legion of artists in Santa Barbara; each year artists have vied for the privilege to have their design represent the Summer Solstice Celebration.  This year's theme “ROOTS" will undoubtedly inspire some wonderful artwork! 

 

If you would like to browse some past year's posters, you can.  Don't worry about putting any text in your artwork; we can put that in.   Download Artist's Agreement here

 

RULES: Entries for the competition must be ready to hang

 Work no larger than 30" X 40"

 30lbs. Maximum weight

TIME:         9:30 am to 5:00 PM

WHERE:     924 Anacapa Street, Suite 3-H

                   (Third Floor)

 

It is suggested that the artwork be graphic, colorful, simple rather than too complex.  Artwork does not necessarily need to reflect this year's theme but an overall representation of the Celebration.

 

RECEPTION FOR ARTISTS AND DISPLAY:  Art work will be exhibited at the Artist’s Reception, Wednesday Feb. 22, 5-8 pm at LoDO Studios 216 E. Gutierrez St.  The Exhibition will be open afternoons for walk throughs 12-5 pm Mon-Fri until First Thursday Reception March 2, 5-8 pm

In our 49th year, the Solstice Parade and Festival is the largest arts event in Santa Barbara County, drawing crowds of over 100,000 spectators and participants from around the world.  The 2023 parade will start at noon, June 24 at the corner of Santa Barbara St. and Ortega and proceed to Alameda Park for the festival.

 

The festival will take place Friday, Saturday, Sunday,  June 23rd, 24th & 25th.  The festival is free and open to the public and will include a full musical line up as well as a variety of food and merchant vendors and beer and wine garden.
