GIVE A JUG A HUG!

solstice4

Wait, you don’t really want to toss that plastic container into your recycling bin just yet, do you?

Did you know that there are hundreds of ways to turn those old plastic bottles and containers into some amazing art? It’s true! Plastic bottles and jugs are a versatile, adaptable and readily available material for all sorts of art projects.

Take a look at these three inspiring works of art. All made from laundry detergent/Clorox bleach jugs, sharpies, paint, fabric, costume jewelry and plant material.

Duct tape them to the end of a broomstick, add some clothes or fabric and you have a stick puppet! How about creating a family of “jug heads” for the virtual parade?

And for our second inspiration, artist Veronika Richterova, creates these magical sculptures all from plastic bottles. If you look closely, you can make out the different parts of the bottles.

What sort of mythical creature or magical plant can you dream up?

And for our third inspiration, these whimsical flowers, created from plastic bottles by Heather O’Cain of BluKatDesign, are simply lovely and oh so simple to make!

Instructions can be found here:

These flowers would make a lovely headdress for your costume don’t cha think?
