Elephant Equinox Party and and Theme Playshops

Solstice Celebration is presenting the Elephant Equinox Theme Party and Workshops- hosted by Legacy Art Santa Barbara, happening on September 21-22, 1230 State Street.   RSVP for different times below for Over 18 and 18 and Under.

Why these dates?

Well, Saturday, September 21, is the Fall Equinox, and Sunday, September 22, is Elephant Appreciation Day in the US! So, we thought, why not combine our annual Theme Party with an exciting opportunity to tell you about the Elephant Parade® and how Santa Barbara can be a part of this global movement, mixing public art with conservation.

What is the Elephant Parade®?

It’s an international initiative featuring life-size baby elephant statues, designed by artists and celebrities, touring cities around the world to raise awareness for elephant conservation. And guess what? We want Santa Barbara to be an official destination for the Elephant Parade® in 2025!

Now for the fun part — this is a CALL to all CREATORS!

Artists, illustrators, graphic designers, tattoo artists, makers, and creators — whether you’re a fine artist or just love to doodle, everyone is welcome to submit. There are two categories in the contest: Under 18 and 18 & Over. Winners from each category will receive a special prize!

Here’s the schedule:

• Artists Under 18:

2 - 4 PM

We’ll provide Elephant Parade® coloring pages, colored pencils, fine-tip markers, and loads of fun facts about elephants and conservation. Light snacks will be available to fuel your creativity!

• Artists 18 & Over:

4 - 6 PM

In addition to the art contest, enjoy live music by Crispin Barrymore, a no-host bar, and delicious appetizers to keep the good vibes flowing.
